Chinese philosophy has revered astrology for millennia, intertwining with contemporary Chinese culture. Serving as a guide for over 3,000 years, predicting the fate of nations, outcomes of wars, economic trends, and much more, the Chinese zodiac is a significant and beautiful reflection of Chinese philosophy and culture.

There are 12 animals central to Chinese astrology, each with profound symbolism and unique characteristics. A popular legend accredits the animals' origin to the Lord Buddha, who summoned the animals to bid him farewell before leaving Earth. Only the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig answered the call (in that order) and were each awarded a year in recognition of their loyalty.

Each zodiac animal repeats a 12-year cycle, and it’s believed that every person inherits the animal's personality traits for the year they were born. As the famed Chinese proverb goes, this is the animal that hides in your heart, so discover your zodiac animal and explore your shared character traits.

The influence of the Chinese zodiac continues to shape cultural traditions in China and East Asia today, from festivities to daily decisions. Understanding the Chinese zodiac offers insights into your personality while fostering an appreciation of Chinese heritage, beliefs, and customs. Exploring the intricacies of your zodiac animal is an enriching experience, illuminating yourself and a rich culture that has captivated the world for centuries.
