Looking for summer vacation ideas? Consider Bali, Indonesia. The best time to go to this popular gem is between June and August - our North American summer. This is when it is drier, the temperature is most comfortable, and you can expect a refreshing breeze in the air. While this period is also peak season pricing for the visitor (and you can expect crowds, especially from Australia), Bali is still a great value destination during these months.
To get to Bali, most travellers need a connection from an Asian gateway such as Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Singapore. We highly recommend a stopover en route to break up the long journey.
In Bali, you'll see that there is something for every kind of traveller!
Families
Families will enjoy staying at Nusa Dua. It is generally an uncrowded beach area, and is a little more upscale than most of the other beach areas in Bali. It features a golf course and a shopping complex. Visitors can also embark on a day excursion to Elephant Park.
Suggested Itinerary:
3-Day Bali Stopover - Nusa Dua
Couples
Couples can have a romantic escape just about anywhere in Bali. Seminyak is a great option as it offers trendy restaurants and shops, nearby nightlife, and features a range of beautiful villas and boutique resorts. Couples can escape the crowds and indulge in a Balinese massage - it is a must!
Suggested Itinerary:
8-Day Bali Beach Escapes - Seminyak
Adventurists
We recommend adventure travellers or divers explore the beautiful Mount Batur, Mount Bromo, or even one of the surrounding islands such as Lombok, which has a beautiful mountain for hiking, or the Gili Islands, which are renowned for their laid back atmosphere and wonderful diving. Komodo Island is famous for the large monitor lizards that can be seen on one of Goway's day excursions.
Suggested Itineraries:
2-Day Mount Bromo Extension
4-Day Gili Beach (Lombok)
3-Day Dragons of Komodo

Growing up in a family travel business, Bronwyn has been travelling from a very young age. Her favourite experience was 3 months spent backpacking through India and Southeast Asia. She counts many countries among her ‘favourites,’ but is especially fond of Australia for its lifestyle, Cambodia for its culture and resilience, and Japan for its contrasts. She holds the proud distinction of being Goway’s only former Bollywood star – having once starred in a Coke commercial in Mumbai.
