Overview
Take a trip to Prince Edward Island on your Canada vacation.
Prince Edward Island (PEI) is Canada’s smallest province. It is located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, west of Cape Breton Island, north of the Nova Scotia peninsula, and east of New Brunswick. The capital city is Charlottetown.
The island's landscape is pastoral: rolling hills, woods, reddish white sand beaches, ocean coves and famous red soil. With gently rolling hills, Acadian forest and pristine beaches, Prince Edward Island can be described as an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Activities include boating, paddling, watersports, whale watching, and deep-sea fishing.
Visitors come from all over the world to Green Gables House, a National Historic Site located in Cavendish, based on the classic Canadian children’s book, “Anne of Green Gables.”
Prince Edward Island National Park is a big draw for its red cliffs, sand dunes, and Cavendish Beach. Famous drives include North Cape Coastal Drive and Points East Coastal Drive with more than 50 phenomenal beaches. Gateway Village at Confederation Bridge offers stunning views of the bridge linking PEI to New Brunswick. And historic charm and countryside elegance can be found at Dalvay by the Sea resort.
Good food – particularly shellfish and seafood – is a way of life on Prince Edward Island, with fresh, local ingredients from the land and sea. Pack your appetite and come discover Canada’s “Food Island” - there is no way you will leave hungry.
