Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse is an active lighthouse within Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. It is a popular stop on the Lighthouse Route, one of the province's most scenic drives. The sleepy fishing village of Peggy's Cove fills with tourists during the summer months.

Day trippers on the Lighthouse Route may stop at Peggy's Cove for a photo opportunity before jumping back in their cars. The octagonal lighthouse, built in 1914, stands 49 ft (15 m) high. The red and white lighthouse contrasts with the deep blue sea waters, making for a striking scene. You can explore the village on foot, whose homes still use clotheslines, stop by gift stores and art galleries, and snap the brightly-painted fishing boats docked in the harbour. When exploring the granite outcrop around the lighthouse, stay away from the black rocks as the surf can be unpredictable and rogue waves can occur even on calm and sunny days.
