Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a group of three waterfalls. The largest of the falls, Horseshoe Falls, sits on the Canadian side. The remaining two falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls sit on the border between New York state and Canada. The Niagara Falls were formed some 12,000 years ago when melting glaciers created massive freshwater lakes that ran downhill toward each other.
The breathtaking 164 ft (50 m) Horseshoe Falls are best seen on a walk along the Niagara Gorge or on a boat ride that takes you up close to the falls. There are a number of amusement-style attractions close to the falls. On the American side, a boat and cave tour will lead you to the base of Bridal Veil Falls. A guided walking tour of the falls will take you all around it. Prepare to get wet on your visit to Niagara Falls. Leave belongings that can get wet at your hotel or carry them in a waterproof bag.
