Overview
Take a trip to Moncton on your Canada vacation.
Just off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, the most populous city of New Brunswick is a riverfront city where more than 120 kilometres of trails create a scenic network for exploration alongside the Petitcodiac River. The Moncton area also has surprisingly warm beaches, including Parlee Beach Provincial Park, “Canada's Warmest Saltwater Beach.”
Cultural and historical attractions include the famous Atlantic Ballet Atlantique Canada, Lutz Mountain Heritage Museum, and Thomas Williams House heritage landmark, serving afternoon tea. Be sure to visit the Marché Moncton Market for baking, fresh farm produce, crafts, and local art.
In Moncton, make a fun stop at Magnetic Hill: put your car in neutral and experience a startling illusion where your car will appear to roll uphill. The Fundy Trail Parkway coastal nature park and scenic drive make for a stunning day trip. Kouchibouguac National Park is a one-hour drive north of Moncton – the Acadian Coastal Drive offers the best views by car. And no visit to New Brunswick is complete without a stop at nearby Le Pays de la Sagouine, a fictional island that come to life.
Bonus: Drive to dinner in Shediac, the lobster capital of the world, which is just 21 minutes from Moncton!
