The Avenue of Baobabs

As its name implies, the Avenue of Baobabs is a large group of baobab trees lining the road between Morondava and Belon'i Tsiribihina in the west of Madagascar. There are about 20-25 baobab trees, which are about 98 ft (30 M) in height. They are both rare and ancient—800 years old—and create a striking landscape. The site was granted "temporary protected" status in 2007, paving the way to being declared Madagascar's first natural monument.

The Avenue of Baobabs is one of the top attractions in Madagascar. You will find seven out of eight Baobab trees in the world here, and six of them are endemic to Madagascar. The site is known for its gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, the silhouettes of the trees against the changing colours of the sky creating a breathtaking view. It is also a great place for stargazing thanks to the clear skies and minimal light pollution.
