Take a trip to Bondi Beach on your Australia Vacation
Bondi Beach, Sydney's beloved beach, receives over two million visitors a year. Bondi has a rich Indigenous heritage dating back thousands of years. Originally privately owned, the beach opened to the public in 1882. It is credited with introducing surfing to Australia and always has a wave, which is often clean due to the light north and north westerly breezes.
Popular activities at Bondi Beach include swimming, surfing, and sunbathing. Enjoy a dip in the iconic Bondi Icebergs pool, witness the gorgeous sunrise at Ben Buckler Point, and snorkel in Bondi's underwater world teeming with diverse marine life. You can also walk the Bondi to Coogee Coastal Trail, a beautiful coastal trail with five beaches along the way and many points of interest, including the Waverly Cemetery and Sesquicentenary Boardwalk, Aboriginal carvings off Mackenzie's Point, Tamarama Park, Bronte Baths, and the Bronte-Coogee Aquatic Reserve. Hang out at the Bondi Pavilion, which houses a gallery, theatre, pottery studio, and cultural spaces. Bondi Beach is a year-round tourist hotspot, with smaller crowds during spring and fall. It is open from 6am to 8:30pm.
