Boulders Beach
Boulders Beach is a sheltered beach most famous for its penguin colony. It is located in historic Simon's Town, and an hour's drive from Cape Town. The white sandy beach is between two massive granite boulders. Its crystal-clear waters are sheltered from the wind and waves, making it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Snorkelling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding are other popular activities at Boulder Beach. You can wind down in the many shady areas and picnic spots.
The highlight of your visit will be a chance to view penguins on the beach. While they are friendly birds that go about their business, you should refrain from feeding them or getting close to them. Simon's Town is worth exploring for its naval heritage. The scenic wonder, Cape of Good Hope, is a short drive away. The best time to visit Boulders Beach is between February and May, during the peak of the breeding season.
