What started as a small Berber fishing village, Casablanca became a strategic port for the likes of the Phoenicians and the Romans. The Portuguese destroyed and then rebuilt the city, inhabiting it until an earthquake devastated the area in 1755. During the era of French colonialism at the beginning of the 20th century, Casablanca witnessed rapid expansion and developed into one of Africa’s largest cities.
Modern Casablanca is a place where the West meets and coexists with Arabic traditions on a molrocco tour. A lively metropolis, it is the most liberal of Morocco’s cities and its citizens are more open to Western ways than their neighbours which will be experienced on a Morocco vacation package.
