I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, with stints in South Africa. I have always had a deep connection to the bushveld. From elephants munching on my mom's plants to lions roaring in the distance, I was lucky to live amidst the wonders of the wild. Now living in the United States with my husband and three children, I am very fortunate as I get to talk about Africa, which is my passion and I have spent the last fourteen years sending people there on their vacations. I have always had a passion for travel and am fortunate that I have been able to travel extensively through Europe, Australia, Israel, and, of course, Southern Africa—Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa.

I live on a small farm in North Carolina where we have cattle, dorper sheep, chickens, and too many roosters. My absolute favourite on our farm are the flocks of Guinea fowl, which give me so much joy and are a nostalgic reminder of home. There is nothing better than to hear them starting to roost in the trees in the evenings. Fishing is one of my favourite pastimes. Tiger fishing on the Zambezi River is challenging and thrilling, but also fishing in the Florida Keys or here in North Carolina comes in a close second.

I have many great travel memories, but the one that always springs to mind is when I was on a sunset safari and we saw a rhino giving birth. If anyone had told me that is what we would see, I would have thought they were crazy. We had seen four of the Big Five on that game drive. The only one missing was the rhino. When the tracker indicated to the game ranger to stop, there, not too far from us, was a rhino who was in the throws of giving birth. We sat quietly and watched the miracle of life happen before us in the middle of the bushveld.
