Senior Airline Industry Veteran Joins Goway

Jim MorrisonGoway Travel is pleased to announce the appointment of airline veteran Jim Morrison to the position of Vice-President Air. Jim previously served as Manager, Leisure Sales, with Air Canada and has held senior positions within the aviation industry over his 30-year extensive career.”Jim is a great asset to Goway and we are delighted to have him on board,” commented President and founder, Bruce Hodge. “Jim has a proven track record in the airline industry and will be the driving force behind this area of our company”.

In the role of Vice-President Air, Jim is responsible for the overall contracting and negotiations for Goway’s worldwide air product, aviation industry liaison and product development.

IslandsEscapes By Goway Announces Staff Promotion

IslandsEscapes by Goway has recently added to the profile of Islands Destinations that are managed by Product Manager Kim Friedrich. Kim’s responsibilities are now expanded to include overall contract and product management, product development, marketing and sales for the Islands of Asia and the Indian Ocean.These additional destinations will now be handled by Kim Friedrich in conjunction with her responsibilities for marketing and sales of the Cook Islands, Fiji, Tahiti, Western Samoa, and the Kingdom of Tonga. In this newly developed role, Kim will work closely with Bob Glazier, Goway Product Manager for Asia, and Christy Fraser, Goway Product Manager for AFRICAExperts.

This announcement coincides with the launch of IslandsEscapes 60-page Idyllic Islands brochure, which is a concise compendium of hotels, resorts and touring options to some of the most spectacular islands of the world.

Goway Appoints New AfricaExperts Manager

Cherry CollinsAFRICAExperts by Goway has appointed industry veteran Cherry Collins to the role of Reservations Manager. Born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa, Cherry has worked in the Travel, Airline, Tourism and Hospitality Industry for 27 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in tour operations, sales and marketing, product and trade shows.

In South Africa, Cherry served the ANC government of Mr. Nelson Mandela by providing hospitality and protocol services for foreign dignitaries. In 2001, Cherry relocated to Canada and has held senior positions in Sales, Operations and Marketing in several companies.

In her new role as Reservations Manager Africa, Cherry is responsible for the operations and sales of AFRICAExperts by Goway, to promote and sell the expanded 2007 Africa product line. Cherry will work closely with Christy Fraser, who has been promoted to the position of Product Manager for AFRICAExperts.

Goway Expands Product and Marketing Team

IslandsEscapes by Goway, has recently appointed Kim Friedrich (left) to the role of Product Manager. This newly created position was developed to help support the growth of the Islands program.

Kim FriederichKim brings more than 7 years of experience to this position, most recently as Product Manager for a mass market tour operator where her responsibilities included the overall management of the Caribbean Islands and Mexican product lines. She brings broad industry knowledge and expertise as well as fresh insight to the company.

Kim’s main responsibilities will be overall contract and product management, product development, marketing and sales of Cook Islands, Fiji, Tahiti, Western Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga, Islands of Asia, and Islands of the Indian Ocean. Kim is familiar with many of the IslandsEscapes destinations, having spent time in Fiji, Tahiti and the Cook Islands, and has excellent product knowledge to help support the growth and development of IslandsEscapes.

Leia marvinAlso joining Goway’s Product & Marketing team is Leia Marvin (right), who has been appointed to the role of Product & Sales Co-ordinator for Goway’s Downunder product line and brings 8 years experience in South Pacific product, sales and marketing.

Leia spent 5 years in Goway’s reservations team as a Senior Travel Consultant, and brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. In addition, Leia has traveled extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Leia is involved in all aspects of training for the Goway South Pacific reservation teams. She is also responsible for email communications and assisting in producing Goway’s award winning “Downunder” brochure.

Asia “ACE” Joins Vancouver!

Goway ASIAExpert, Michael Jin Wang has re-located from Toronto to Vancouver to spearhead sales growth for Asia.

Michael attended China Tourism University in Beijing, obtained a diploma in English Literature from Beijing Normal University before obtaining his Master of Arts in Tourism Management at University of Brighton in 2002. He is fluent in English, German, Mandarin and Cantonese.

His stellar career spans 17 years. Eleven years with CITS included tourguiding as well as a 6 year stint in Europe as Sales Manager responsible for sourcing and developing new markets for China.

In Eastern Canada, Michael was instrumental in helping Goway establish its ASIAExperts brand. The company now offers hundreds of travel ideas throughout 16 countries in Orient-Asia.

Goway Appoints Business Development Team in the East

To help agents expand their long haul and repeat traveller business with Goway, the company recently appointed two Business Development Managers for Eastern Canada.

“Since we really cater to Globetrotters, we keep expanding our product to Downunder, Africa and Asia”, stated Bruce Hodge, President of the 35 year old company. “The objective of our Business Development Managers, Paul Badics and Nicole Churchman, is to help agents tap into this lucrative long haul world traveller market and sell our exciting products”.

Specifically, Paul will be responsible for GTA West, Ottawa and Quebec and Nicole’s focus is on GTA East, the Maritimes plus South Western and Eastern Ontario.

Nicole brings over 10 years experience in the travel industry, most recently with

CIBC Aeroplan and previously with Royal Scenic Holidays, Thomas Cook and Marlin Travel as well as with Ski Express in Sydney Australia.

Paul has 20 years of experience in the travel wholesale and airline business, primarily in Sales Management, as well as in various Customer Sales and Service functions. Recently, Paul has consulted for US Travel suppliers, and has held positions at Royal Scenic, RBC Travel Insurance, Signature Vacations, British Airways, Air Canada Cargo and Air Canada Passenger Sales. As well as promoting Goway’s growing tour product, Paul and Nicole will be emphasizing to agents the advantages of dealing with the “complex air itinerary” experts at GowayAir, Goway’s consolidation division and the Goway GroupsOnly specialists for Downunder, Africa and Asia.

GOWAY’S NEWEST ADDITION TO IT’S DOWNUNDER TEAM

Goway Travel is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Swire as Supervisor of the Wholesale F.I.T. Land Division for Western Canada based in the company’s Vancouver office. Originating from New Zealand, Kate joins Goway after four and a half years with Flight Centre where she was an Assistant Manager in downtown Vancouver. With a strong passion for South Pacific destinations, Kate has travelled to over 25 countries and lived in New Zealand, Switzerland and London UK before settling in Vancouver with her Canadian husband. With the increasing demand in the marketplace for long-haul travel, Kate looks forward to a successful future with Goway.
