THE DEMAND FOR INDIA CONTINUES TO GROW

India is high on the list of destinations for Canadian travellers this year, according to Goway’s Product and Marketing Manager, Robert Glazier. A record number of inquiries this year are being credited to an increased awareness of India as an up and coming destination; increased advertising by the National Tourist Office, and the introduction of several affordable Goway programs introduced into the market. “The increase in demand has been amazing,” commented Glazier, “but hardly surprising. India is rich in history, culture, scenic sights and wildlife.”

Most travellers are first time visitors who are showing a pent up curiosity to explore this varied and unique destination. India has always been a staple destination of Goway’s Asia product line and the selection of itineraries made available has enabled Canadians to choose from 1 to 3 week travel suggestions which cover most people’s interests.

The 22 day fully escorted “Splendours of India” tour is available throughout 2007 and into the winter of 2008. This first class tour is one of Goway’s “Holidays of a Lifetime” and includes both the north and the south of India, featuring nine key cities. Prices start from $8999 from Vancouver.

India attracts travellers wanting diverse customized itineraries and Goway has a large selection of city modules including Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Udaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Goa, and Aurangabad. These short city stopovers can be combined with any of Goway’s regional packages. These include a 3 night cruise through Kerala’s Backwaters in Southern India featured in the 5 day Kerala package or the 6 day Resorts and Hill Stations of North West India which visits Kulu, Manalali and Shimla, and starts from $1593.

For niche markets, Goway has a number of travel options. From the 8-day Palace on Wheels, a regal journey by rail through India’s top spots, to exploring Ranthambore Tiger Sanctuary through several game drives. Also available is a very special independent itinerary of northern India, Forts and Palaces which includes stays at former Maharajas’ Palaces, now luxury hotels. Prices start from $4651 per person from Delhi.
