Goway Promotes the Melbourne Commonwealth Games

Did you know that four Canadian cities have hosted the Commonwealth Games, the second largest multi-sport event in the world and in 1930 Hamilton, Ontario was the first in the world to host the Games. For the 2014 Games, five cities are bidding to be the Canadian candidate. In the meantime however, the XVIII Commonwealth Games will be held in Melbourne, Australia 15-26 March, 2006.

To help promote the Melbourne Games and entice Canadians to travel to Downunder, Goway Travel, the official Games ticket provider for Canada will be hosting special presentations in Vancouver (Oct. 29), (Nov. 1), Winnipeg (Nov. 2), Edmonton (Nov. 3), Calgary (Nov. 5), Halifax (Nov 7), Montreal (Nov. 8), Ottawa (Nov. 9), Toronto (Nov. 10) and Ancaster (Nov. 26). The company hopes to have a Canadian athlete in attendance.

Agents are invited to attend and bring prospective clients. In most cities “agents only” presentations will precede the public event.

Goway Travel is Canada’s oldest and largest company specializing in travel to the lands Downunder. They are also the only Canadian travel company to actually have an office in Australia.

Melbourne is Australia’s city of sport. The whole country stops for the Melbourne Cup horse race; their cricket ground is “holy” and everyone supports an “Aussie Rules” football team. The city is home to the Australian Open Tennis Championship and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. They also hosted the 1956 Olympic Games. Melbourne therefore is a very fitting place to host the next Commonweath Games.

Goway today launches a range of vacations specifically tailored for families; from a short getaway to Sydney for families with younger children to an educational-themed tour visiting the State of Tasmania.

GOWAY’S DOWNUNDER SNOWBIRD PROGRAM PERFECTED

Goway is again promoting the merits of its Snowbird packages to the lands Downunder. Highlighting favourable exchange rates and the value of their program, Goway’s destinations in Australia and New Zealand are safe, friendly and relaxed. With the reversal of seasons, wintertime here guarantees it is summer Downunder.

Goway’s destinations are the Gold and Sunshine Coasts in Australia and the Bay of Plenty region in the North Island of New Zealand. Snowbirds can fly away for one, two or three months to any one or a combination of these destinations.

Although the company offers condominium stays at any time of the year, they strongly recommend their inclusive long-stay package, which has three exclusive departures: January 17, January 31 and February 14.

Prices for this program range from $3,059 to $4,159 per person quad share for one to three months on the Sunshine Coast. Rates for the Gold Coast, New Zealand or combination packages are available on request or see Goway’s DOWNUNDER brochure. Inclusions are airfare from the West Coast with Qantas, airport transfers, an orientation tour, welcome and farewell parties, a fully self-contained apartment with cleaning and linen service, grocery starter kit, discount coupons, free membership in certain sports clubs, a diary, flight bag, neck pillow and other goodies. Goway pioneered the idea of Snowbird vacations in Australia and they have perfected the concept. The program is not FLY and FLOP, it is under the supervision of its own staff and its Sydney office. This can make and has made the difference in the case of emergency.
