The engaging, interactive and informative presentation will showcase the wide range of hiking trails including the lush landscapes and majestic scenery of New Zealand, told through visuals and Potterfield’s own experiences. One of North America’s most knowledgeable experts on adventure travel, Potterfield has written more than a dozen books on outdoor adventure, including Classic Hikes of the World: 23 Breathtaking Treks.

He has contributed to Outside, Conde Nast Traveler, National Geographic Adventure and other major magazines. He helped develop online adventure reporting as editor of MountainZone.com and was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for General Excellence as editor of Pacific Northwest magazine. Potterfield is currently editor of GreatOutdoors.com, where he writes a regular column.

Goway Announces Special ‘Aussie’ Night

Over 30 Australian travel industry representatives will be travelling to Toronto in early August to join Goway’s annual “Pow Wow” Aussie training program to update the company’s reservations teams on news from the Lands Downunder. Over 600 appointments will be conducted totalling over 120 hours of product training!

Goway will also host a special Australia evening at the Marriott Toronto Bloor Yorkville, 90 Bloor Street East on Wednesday 6 August from 6pm-9pm. Goway’s Downunder Launch At G’Day Toronto’s Aussie Biosphere

It’s Australia Week in Canada and next Saturday, February 17th, at the purpose-built Australian “Biosphere” in the middle of Dundas Square, Toronto, Goway will launch their 2007/08 DOWNUNDER brochure.

From 15-18 February, the Biosphere will be hosting world-class Australian entertainers, music, art and film. Goway is the official Travel Sponsor of the events, along with Qantas Airways.

On Saturday morning, the downunder specialist will be hosting the Great Aussie Travel Seminar and Breakfast from 8am-10am. Guest speaker will be renowned adventurer Jon Bowermeister, who will showcase his recent adventures in Australia, paddling Tasmania’s coastline on assignment for National Geographic.

Downunder Hosts the 2007 World Police and Fire Games

Goway Travel has been appointed the official agent in North America for the World Police & Fire games in March 2007 in Adelaide, Australia.

Held every two years, the World Police & Fire Games are a spectacular international sporting event, offering law enforcement agencies, fire fighters, customs and correction officers from over 60 countries an opportunity to showcase their athletic talents.

As the official agent in North America, Goway has prepared packages for athletes and travelling companions to visit Australia during the Games.

Goway Promotes the Melbourne Commonwealth Games

Did you know that four Canadian cities have hosted the Commonwealth Games, the second largest multi-sport event in the world and in 1930 Hamilton, Ontario was the first in the world to host the Games. For the 2014 Games, five cities are bidding to be the Canadian candidate. In the meantime however, the XVIII Commonwealth Games will be held in Melbourne, Australia 15-26 March, 2006.

To help promote the Melbourne Games and entice Canadians to travel to Downunder, Goway Travel, the official Games ticket provider for Canada will be hosting special presentations in Vancouver (Oct. 29), (Nov. 1), Winnipeg (Nov. 2), Edmonton (Nov. 3), Calgary (Nov. 5), Halifax (Nov 7), Montreal (Nov. 8), Ottawa (Nov. 9), Toronto (Nov. 10) and Ancaster (Nov. 26). The company hopes to have a Canadian athlete in attendance.

Agents are invited to attend and bring prospective clients. In most cities “agents only” presentations will precede the public event.

Melbourne therefore is a very fitting place to host the next Commonweath Games.
