Even before Marco Polo and friends headed out on camels across the Gobi Desert, the concept of travelling in convoy has found favour with wanderers. Travelling in motor home convoy has never been more popular reports the leading “Downunder” specialist, Goway Travel. Utilizing a fleet of purpose built motor homes in Australia and New Zealand, Goway Travel provides specially designed itineraries for convoy groups and for individual motor home hirers.
Among the many visitors to Australia and New Zealand opting to travel together in convoy are families and friends – some celebrating milestones such as wedding anniversaries and special birthdays – and special interest groups such as amateur photographers, golfers, garden enthusiasts and the like.
By travelling in convoy motor home customers can enjoy the companionship and savings that group travel affords while still having the flexibility, space and privacy of their own vehicle. Often convoy customers split off from the group at the start of the day to travel at their own pace and visit places they want to see. They then meet up with the other travellers in the convoy in the evening at the pre-designated holiday park and have a great time swapping stories about their experiences during the day.
Maui motor homes, recommended by Goway, come in a range of vehicle models and three sizes – two berth, four and six berth – and all feature comfortable beds, a fridge and cook top, kitchenware, cutlery, crockery, closets for clothes storage, ample cupboard space and heating. The two-berth Volkswagen and four and six berth motor homes also include toilets and showers, microwaves and CD players. Maui is the only motor home company Downunder to offer a 24-hour Customer Care on the Road service in order to maintain regular contact with customers while they are travelling.
All-inclusive convoy packages can be booked via Goway’s dedicated GroupsOnly Department at 1-800 838 0618 or by visiting their website at www.groupsonly.com.
Packages include full vehicle protection coverage, unlimited kilometres, free airport-branch transfers, complimentary travel wallet, maps and travel discounts.
The Goway GroupsOnly Department is staffed by a team of dedicated group specialists focusing strictly on group travel. They come from the ranks of the teaching profession, tour escorting, the retail travel trade and the airlines. Their creativity, attention to detail and enthusiasm is unparalleled.
