Special Guest for Goway’s Antarctica

large_HuNpLIYvkSVhAwrUcjJ1bqQh5wGoway Travel has announced that Jeff Orlowski, director of the Oscar-nominated climate change documentary, Chasing Ice, will join the 22-day Antarctic expedition  featuring the first-ever floating “Polar Film Festival”.

Orlowski’s “Chasing Ice” chronicles environmental photographer James Balog’s attempts to capture the Earth’s changing climate on film. As his team journeys north to the Arctic, they deploy time-lapse cameras, designed for the unique Arctic climates, to record irrefutable evidence that glaciers are, in fact, melting at record rates. This eye-opening film, which garnered awards at Sundance and Hot Docs, will open the festival’s lineup of illuminating documentaries.

Orlowski, director, producer and cinematographer behind ‘Chasing Ice,’ will be our special guest during the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica via Buenos Aires voyage  departing Buenos Aires on November 2, 2013.

The Floating Polar Film Festival will feature a diverse program of documentaries, curated by Hot Docs, North America’s largest documentary film festival. The films will range in topics from ecology and the environment to exploration and adventure.

Recipes from Abroad: Sushi Rolls

10. Sushi MakingSushi is easy to make, a light and healthy option, and makes a perfect appetizer for a summer party! All you need is a bit of patience learning how to do the perfect roll, and a grocery store that sells seaweed paper (“nori). Here’s how to make Spicy Salmon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 Nori Sheet (an edible seaweed sheets, usually found in an Asian grocery store)
  • 1/2 cup – Sushi Rice (Sushi Rice Recipe)
  • 1 1/2 ounces – Raw Salmon Sashimi
  • Avocado
  • Cucumber
  • Several drops of Sriracha (chili sauce)
  • 1 bowl – Warm Vinegar Water

Preparation

  1. Take a half sheet of nori and place the shiny side down, with the long side facing you. Dip your hands in a bowl of vinagered water (the vinagered water is used to prevent the sushi rice from sticking). You want your hands to be damp, not wet.
  2. Gently pat and spread 1/2 cup of sushi rice in an even layer on each sheet using your fingers. Do not mash or smear the rice on the nori.
  3. Cut the salmon and cucumber into long, thin sticks. Slice the avocado into thin, crescent shaped pieces. Place the salmon horizontally across the nori.
  4. Place drops of Siracha along the salmon. Place the drops about 1/2″ apart. Place the cucumber and avocado horizontally across the nori.
  5. Roll the sushi using the Maki sushi rolling method. Note it takes practice to achieve the perfect the rolling technique. It is easiest when you are using a sushi-mat. Check out videos on youtube for assistance!
  6. On the cutting board, cut the spicy salmon roll into 8 pieces and enjoy!
